The Melbourne Graduate School of Education of today encompasses many institutions previously responsible for teacher education in Victoria, including:

  • The Training Institute
  • Melbourne Teachers' College
  • Secondary Teachers' College
  • Melbourne College of Education
  • Melbourne State College (formally know as the State College of Victoria)
  • Melbourne College of Advanced Education, incorporating the SCV Institute of Early Childhood Development
  • Melbourne Kindergarten Training College
  • Technical Teachers' College, later known as SCV at Hawthorn, then the Hawthorn Institute of Education
  • Institute of Education

H1 First Class Honours 80% and above
H2A Second Class Honours Upper Division 75 – 79%
H2B Second Class Honours Lower Division 70 – 74%
H3 Third Class Honours 65 – 69%
P Pass 50 – 64%
N Fail 0 – 49%


Hawthorn Institute of Education

1994 onwards
H1 First Class Honours 80% and above
H2A Second Class Honours Upper Division 75 – 79%
H2B Second Class Honours Lower Division 70 – 74%
H3 Third Class Honours 65 – 69%
P Pass 50 – 64%
N Fail 0 – 49%

 

With additional notations:

CNT Subject continuing over more than one academic year (ie CNT result given for all years other than for the final year)
NCP Conceded (Faculty) Pass in subject
S Admitted to Supplementary Examination
WD Approved withdrawal from subject
WH Withheld result (ie a graded result will be returned before the start of the next academic year)
N+ Where a subject has a hurdle requirement which has not been met, the actual numerical result achieved for the subject will be recorded, except where this is 50 or above, in which case a result of 49+ will be awarded

D Distinction Used only where this result is provided for in the conditions prescribed for the course.
C Credit Used only where this result is provided for in the conditions prescribed for the course.
